War Against the Taxpayers
“We gotta keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And, you know, there's only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They got a war. They got a war with us, and there's only gonna be one winner. It's gonna be the workers of Michigan and America. We're gonna win that war. President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. And, President Obama, we want one thing: jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. That's what we're going to tell him. He gonna be -- and when he sees what we're doing here, he will be inspired. But he needs help, and, you know what? Everybody here's gotta vote. If we go back and we keep the eye on the prize, let's take these son-of-a-bitches out.”
With a 10.2 percent unemployment rate, one that’s above the national average, the question is: what workers? You have to have jobs to be workers. The unions drained Michigan’s car manufacturers dry with exorbitant pensions, health benefits, and wages for idled workers. Now they’re mostly out of work. There’s nothing left in Michigan for the teamsters to ship. Only a small percentage of truck drivers are actually members of the Teamsters Union, who work for companies large enough to threaten.
Hoffa wants to declare a war because the unions bargained themselves right out of their jobs. They should be put on a suicide watch and strait-jacketed. The unions, all socialist-oriented, labored to get Obama elected and now our country is in worse economic condition than ever. Clearly, the unions declared war on America decades ago, and now they want the spoils of that “victory”. They’ve already taken our economy out. What more do they want?
He says “one thing about working people is we like a good fight.” That was quite evident in Wisconsin. The government workers wanted a fight and there was a winner but it wasn’t them; it was the taxpayers – the real working people. Our numbers are dwindling as over-taxed corporations leave for greener shores, downsize, or go bankrupt.
It’s hard to imagine Hoffa’s belligerent, profane, knuckle-scraping speech impressing intelligent Americans. In the end, he covers his call to arms by declaring it a call to vote. He talks about ‘going back,’ which is an admission of loss. Give America back to an America where they belong? The unions are up against the ropes. This Rocky-style speech is meant to rally the unions who are, indeed, facing a truer army of Tea Party patriots calling the unions, particularly the government unions, to account for theit excesses.
The unions can (and probably will) bring knives, sticks, baseball bats, clubs, maces and so forth to the fight. We could do that, too, and use these horrible weapons on the foolish moderate and independent voters who put Big Government politicians into office. But what would that prove? We’ll bring signs, cameras, and common sense. Facts, not fear, are our best ammunition in this War Against the Taxpayers.
